TS-75XX Product Errata

arrow

Documentation from June-2010

Number: 01

Synopsis: 16ms Delay with ETH0 Disconnected
Severity: Minor
Class: Kernel Bug
Release: All TS-75XX/TS-4500 Boards
Status: Workarounds available

Description:

The Cavium STR8100 NIC driver was programmed with 16ms delays when Ethernet is physically disconnected (see function static void internal_phy_patch_check(int init) of .../drivers/net/str8100/star_nic.c). This causes delayed responses in real-time applications such as canctl. When Ethernet is physically connected, the issue is nonexistent.

Workaround:

TS-7500/TS-7550 users wanting to utilize real-time responses without Ethernet plugged in will need to:

  1. Bring the eth0 interface down with the command:
    ifconfig eth0 down
  2. Recompile the kernel without the Ethernet driver from Cavium (.../drivers/net/str8100/star_nic.c)

Number: 02

Synopsis: 3.3V Rail Slump
Severity: Minor
Class: Hardware
Release: All TS-7500/TS-7550 Boards
Status: No Fixes or Workarounds

Description:

Power on transients of SD card will cause a 3.3V rail slump which effects Ethernet link for approximately 1 second.
