The TS-WIFIBOX Application Kit includes a complete solution for 802.11g WiFi applications. The one-piece setup includes a TS-7400 200Mhz ARM9 SoM engine, a Hammond aluminum enclosure, two aluminum end-plates and an internal 802.11g WiFi card integrated with external antenna. In addtion, Linux drivers and software packages are installed to provide an out-of-the-box WiFi solution.
Hardware Description
The TS-WIFIBOX product is a small embedded computer box with extra accessories and pre-configured software packages. It is designed to provide extreme performance for applications which demand high reliability, fast bootup/startup, and Wi-Fi connectivity at low cost and low power, such as a gateway or firewall, protocol converter, ethernet to WiFi bridge, web server, WiFi audio, etc.
The TS-WIFIBOX is an industrial grade solution, designed to endure extreme environmental stressors and run reliably for years. Inside, all the components are soldered on, the SD Card is clamped into the socket, and there are no moving parts. The industrial power connector has screw down terminals for a connection that will not loosen even under extreme vibration. The Hammond extruded aluminum enclosure is the perfect rugged enclosure. The TS-WIFIBOX uses less than 4 Watts of power and can be programmed for even lower use. Compare that to a PC and monitor at 175 Watts.
TS-WIFIBOX measures 1.1 x 4.9 x 3.1inches. The two end-plates bring out 1 10/100 ethernet port, 1 USB port, 2 user controlled red and green LEDs, power input and WiFi external antenna jack. The power source is either 8-30V DC through the industrial-grade two position terminal strip on the rear of the unit, or regulated 5V DC through the commercial-grade barrel connector on the front of the unit. The integrated 802.11g Wi-Fi daughter-card with external antenna connector (SMA connector) makes use of one USB channel and provides reliable high-speed wireless connectivity. There is one SD Card socket available inside, which provides reliable and high capacity storage, currently up to 4GB.
The quantity 1 pricing for the TS-WIFIBOX Application Kit, as shown in the picture with an internal TS-7400-32-32F, is $249. Quantity discount starts at 10 units. Contact Technologic Systems for ordering and further information.

Software Description
The TS-WIFIBOX comes with a TS-7400 engine, which boots
to Linux from NAND flash using the
proprietary TS-FLASHBOOT bootup
firmware residing in ROM memory.
It can also boot from an SD Card, through the
TS-SDBOOT firmware. The TS-7400 Ultra-Fast bootup solution
was optimized for speed and includes
kernel, initrd and filesystem (Busybox)
tweaks. The bootstrat setup is very
similar to the 1.69s
Fast Bootup for TS-7300, but
almost 30% faster. In addition,
the hardware accelerated NAND flash
controller is an unique feature
implemented in the on-board CPLD
that provides hardware ECC, allowing
the system to skip software ECC
during startup and enabling bootup
to a Linux shell prompt in 1.1 seconds (when console is available through a COM port). Since the TS-7400 actually boots
to an initrd with a read-only mounted
filesystem, it is possible to have
something other than a shell prompt
running after bootup by editing
the /linuxrc shell script on the
initrd.
The TS-WIFIBOX already includes all the necessary Linux drivers and packages in order to enable out-of-the-box WiFi application productivity. A TS-WIFIBOX Linux application would load in about 1.1 seconds plus the time required to load additional driver modules, application packages and binaries. Contact Technologic Systems for further information on the TS-WIFIBOX software solution or visit the software section of the TS-7400 page. |
